Will Mostert

Will Mostert is a retired educator, writer, and artist currently based in Auckland, New Zealand. Originally from South Africa, he spent the majority of his career teaching History, English, Afrikaans, Geography, and Physical Education, with a particular passion for Creative Writing. His teaching journey has taken him across continents, including long-term positions in South Korea and Taipei, Taiwan.
Holding an Honours degree in History, Will has a deep and enduring interest in South Africa’s rich and turbulent past. He has visited many of the country’s most significant battlefields: Magersfontein, Majuba, Colenso, Spioenkop, Blood River, Isandlwana, and Rorke’s Drift among them. His travels have also taken him through the tunnels of Vietnam and to the site of the Battle of Hacksaw Ridge on Okinawa Island, Japan. These powerful, firsthand experiences, along with his personal knowledge of the South African Bush War, have deeply shaped his understanding of conflict, heritage, and storytelling.
Will’s passion for history, family legacy, and the enduring power of myth comes to life in his debut novel, The Silver Bracelet, a fast-paced work of historical fiction. Blending action, ancestral memory, and dramatic narrative, the book reflects Will’s lifelong engagement with both historical truth and creative imagination.
When he’s not writing, Will continues to teach English and Art.
