Koos van Zyl

Koos van Zyl is a passionate sports enthusiast with a deep interest in a wide range of sports. He regularly participates in radio discussions about cricket and boxing. His hobby involves following sporting events closely, collecting extensive statistics, and analyzing them. Koos holds the title of the biggest sports collector in Namibia.

In 1993 and 1994, Koos teamed up with Marius Millard to compete in South Africa’s two largest sporting quizzes, winning both events. He also competed in Namibia’s Gillette Sports Challenge in 1997 and 1998, which aired on television, reaching the final in 1997 and the semi-final in 1998. Additionally, Koos won the individual radio version of this competition in 1997. He has authored four books. Now retired, Koos enjoys his family life with his wife and one child.

This book deals with the various heavyweight boxing champions over the years, ranging from 1885 until present. During the early years there was only one world champion and the occurrence of various champions for the respective organisations followed later.
Over the years there were 22 normal, 64 “major” and 27 “minor” champions, which is 113 heavyweight champions in total. This publication aims to place specific focus on some of the most prominent figures.
