Desmond Wiggill

Desmond Wiggill, or simply Des to those who know him well, lives in Albertinia in the Western Province. He began writing at sixty, after retiring from a life closely tied to nature and simplicity. Born and raised in Lydenburg, Mpumalanga, Des draws deeply from country life, which shapes the atmosphere of his storytelling.

His published works include The Purple Flower, a romantic drama, and Kingpin, an adventure novel. He is currently working on Stone Cold, a homicide story. Des writes across multiple genres and uses his vivid imagination, rooted in childhood daydreams, as a creative wellspring.

When not writing, Des farms gooseberries. His readers mean everything to him. Their enjoyment motivates him to keep creating. He feels honored when someone chooses to read his stories and hopes readers find as much joy in them as he found writing them. Des credits his wife’s encouragement for believing in his talent and helping him discover his voice.
