Marizka Coetzer

Marizka Coetzer is an accomplished journalist specializing in breaking news, investigative reporting, crime, current affairs, and human interest stories. Her journalism career began in 2012 at Caxton’s West Rand branch, where she contributed to publications including Roodepoort Rekord, Roodepoort Northsider, and Krugersdorp News.

In 2016, she joined Huisgenoot, one of South Africa’s most widely read magazines, further honing her skills in feature writing and in-depth reporting. Three years later, in 2019, she moved to Pretoria Rekord, before joining The Citizen at the end of 2020, where she continues to make her mark as a respected voice in South African journalism.

Marizka is the author of three books and a two-time recipient of the prestigious Caxton Awards, receiving accolades in both 2015 and 2019. Her expertise and on-the-ground insights have also earned her recognition in the true crime genre, with notable appearances in the Showmax documentary series Devilsdorp (2021), Stella Murders (2023), and Tiek Tok Boem (2025).
